Star or Colored
Fire Formulas
All
of the formulas listed below can just be mixed and burnt
in a lose pile to produce the desired color. If they
are going to be rolled into stars, follow the guidelines
listed below.For
stars containing Potassium
Perchlorate, roll using water as a solvent. They
are primed with 2 layers. The first layer is a mixture
of 50% Black Powder and 50% star mix followed by a final
layer of plain Black Powder about 2mm thick. Finished
stars should be about 1/2" diameter. For
stars containing Potassium Chlorate, roll using
water as a solvent. They are primed with 1 layer of
Black Powder about 2mm thick... ONLY AFTER THE STAR
IS COMPLETELY DRY.

Do
not roll these stars, and do not moisten
with water. The composition is mixed with
Isopropyl Alcohol (ordinary drug store variety)
until a very thick paste is formed. The
mass is put between 2 sheets of waxed paper
and rolled flat using a rolling pin. The
stars are then cut into 3/4" squares
and allowed to dry. No prime is necessary,
they ignite easily.
